Can I just explain to you the level of excitement I feel for my upcoming trip?
Let me show you rather...
Who does this? Well, I do. And why? Because I'm THAT excited, I've never been on as detailed a trip before and lastly, this is the first trip I've ever taken where I am paying for, and pretty much organising, everything entirely on my own. It deserves a spreadsheet and multiple lists, a whole Flip File even.
So, next week Thursday I depart for Dubai, landing in the extremely early hours of Friday morning. I could've stayed in the airport for 13 hours but ain't nobody got time fo dat so I got myself a UAE Visa, a night in the cheapest and most convenient hotel I could find and am planning to do Dubai at lightening speed, all before returning to the airport for the hop over to Istanbul.
I am fascinated by Dubai and this crazy world where Aladdin meets Sci-Fi. I went there for a holiday to celebrate my dad's 60th in 2009, where we went quad biking and 4x4ing and shopping and eating and exploring, and I am so looking forward to returning, even if only briefly. I purposely booked my flights to have a long enough layover that I could leave the airport and inhale some 40 degree dry desert air. Anything for a little adventure.
By Friday night I'll be in Istanbul and because it'll be early evening when I land, I suspect I won't really get my bearings until Saturday morning when breakfast will be experienced from the roof of the very cool Mama Shelter hotel, where I will be staying with some friends for 6 nights.
Mama Shelter promises to be an absolute treat.
On the 29th of August, I'll be moving through Athens, with my first night being at an equally cool hotel. The New Hotel is located in the Plaka region and after doing some research on Athens, I decided it was a part of the city I just had to experience. It also happens to be in very close proximity to the Acropolis, something that is obviously on my To Do List.
I've been through the gallery on the website a million times and I secretly hope this will be my exact room.
On my second night in Athens, I will be moving to another hotel, also from the Yes! Hotels group where I will be staying with a friend.
Pimping it up at the Semiramis.
From here it's on to the main event, a week on the beautiful island of Skopelos, where my friend Julie and her fiancé Vito will finally tie the knot. They are one of my most favourite couples so this is going to be an incredibly special wedding.
This is Jules and Vito in Paternoster last weekend. I love this photo (by Craig Kolesky) so just had to include it. It also puts faces to names for all you stalkers out there.
The BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING is only 22 days away!
Can I start packing now already?
